Changing Oils

12/02/05 - 12/04/05

We weren't planning on going up to Three Rivers this weekend. We had just spent a whole week there, and Loretta had lots to catch up on at home. But around Wednesday, Robby started getting itchy, and said "Let's go up to the property this weekend. I want to change the oils in the tractor". (!!!) At first, Loretta resisted, but at the last minute, she decided to go.

We spent the whole weekend working on the tractor and ATV. We arrived very late (about 10:15pm), due to a late start and a huge traffic jam on the freeway that cost us an hour and a half (oh, we can hardly wait to be in Three Rivers). But even so, Rob was out in the 'garage', working on the tractor on Friday night - with nothing but a camp lantern for light.

It had rained 1 1/2 inches in the last week, and our wonderfully re-graded road had new ruts in it. But the new banking that Rob did at the ravine held up pretty well. The grass is really starting to grow now.

Rob also wanted to install "Pat's Easy Change System" on the link arms of the tractor. Here, he checks to see if it fits.

Hmm, the ball mount in the link arm is too wide to fit. Rob files it down. You can tell he's been working for quite a while. (slideshow)

Here's the Easy Change system all installed, and ready to hook up. (slideshow)

Now Rob installs his new box blade bracket extension. (slideshow)

Cutting the existing spacers in half, so it would fit perfectly.

Here it is - all pieces installed. (slideshow)

Here, you can see the box blade in action with the new Top N Tilt. (video)

Now Rob's really getting the hang of it! (video) (oops, we didn't expect it to break)

This oil filter was screwed on ultra tight. It took tremendous effort to get it off. Then, afterwards, Rob discovered that those bolts on top can be used to take the whole thing off.

Next project was to install additional brackets on the ATV so Loretta can take the sprayer on and off more easily.

Just a little rain, and the grass is really growing!

Coco likes to be near us while we work, and finds a place in the sun to sack out.
