Frame the Treehouse

December 10 - December 12, 2004

It was pretty cold this weekend - colder than last time. Low was 28°. Even with the wool comforters on top of us, the air in the air mattress was cold.

Rob was eager to work on the treehouse, though. So most of the pictures are of that process. We walked the road and found very distinct bear prints, where the bear had crossed from the property to the east, and walked all the way down the road. The road had more ruts in it, too. We also walked down to the river again.... the river was much, much fuller!

(As always, click on the picture to get a larger picture that you can see better)

This bridge is on Sequoia Oaks - the turnoff from the county road (South Fork Drive). It was originally just a railroad flatcar, and a few years ago, they built the cement bridge right on top of the existing flatcar

This entrance is at the beginning of our 'tract'.

Intersection of Sequoia Oaks and Buckhorn (the street that deadends into our property)

Rob is high up in the tree, starting to frame the treehouse.

The frame is started. Rob can't reach that branch. He built the framework, then had to figure out a way to get it over the branch... all from the large fork in the tree.

Rob checks out his work and tries to figure out the next step.

Lining things up

Now that the initial frame is up, Rob brings up a fourth board, while balancing in the fork.

Chopping off a knot in the trunk, so the next board fits.

Put the axe away before you accidently chop something off

Now that board fits.

Yikes! Straddling the branch, and the trunk... maneuvering the board.

Hauling up supplies with a rope.
