January 14-16, 2005

How exciting! We took stakes and twine up to the homesite, along with our floor plan, and laid out the footprint of our home (as best as we could). It was a good thing. After laying it out according to our initial decision, we then decided to rotate it slightly, as well as moving it about 10 feet to the north.
This isn't as easy as it sounds.
The hexagonal living room was the easiest part. But from there, getting the angles right was difficult, at best. When we decided to rotate the house, it got very warped, and it took us most of the next morning to get it right again. But we think we're very pleased now.
The only sadness is that Loretta realized that once the house is built, we will will no longer (ever) have the view of the rocks from the top meadow. However, we'll be including windows in the basement so we can still see the rocks from underneath.
