Start Hydraulic Rippers 02-24-2006

After all the road work, Rob quickly realized that there must be a better way to adjust the rippers. It's currently a manual process, so he has to get out of the tractor, and move the rippers one by one. So, he decided to build a hydraulic system to move them up and down.

(As always, click on the picture to get a larger picture that you can see better)

He designed it all himself, and made the parts at home.

Here are the plates that will secure the rippers, and the guideposts that the plates will ride on. The two short ones will go on the two ends, outside the box blade brackets. The long one goes in the middle, between the brackets.

Now, remember that Rob is assembling this at the property. He has no opportunity to check his fit while he's making the parts.

Can't forget the coffee. There's not much room for 'extra' stuff, so Rob figured out a way to fasten his coffee thermos so it won't roll around.

You know, for a non-hunter, Loretta sure likes to kill stuff. Not really, but the rodents really chew things up and leave droppings (eewwww) around, so Loretta puts traps everywhere. This week, every trap was sprung, and Rob thought it would be really funny to line them all up and take a picture.
