Starting Counter Top

01/28/05 - 01/30/05

We decided to leave early Saturday morning, since Loretta's mom and brother came for dinner Friday night. 3:30AM to be precise. We thought this was great. There was no traffic, and we got to see the sun rise. We had the whole day on Saturday. It was quite chilly and overcast at camp, but dry. Yes, this was great. Until about 4pm when we had been up for 14 hours after having only 4 hours sleep.

Anyway, Rob had decided to replace the aluminum camp tables in the kitchen with a wooden counter. As usual, we bought all the wood down south, had it cut to size, and hauled it up, along with more furniture (bookcase and another chest of drawers). It's getting to look more and more like a real house.

Sunday was gorgeous. We went to Lowe's, bought more wood, and Rob continued to work on the counter top (hmmm... more stuff for Loretta to sand and finish).

We haven't seen many animals moving around yet, even though it's getting warm. A few ground squirrels, and that's about it. But our motion lights in the meadow lit up a couple of times, so they're starting to move.

The flowers are really popping out all over. Yes, this is definitely the 3R that we fell in love with.

We may not have an address yet, but that doesn't mean we can't be found. Our new sign pronounces to the world (well, at least to our neighbors) who we are.

The abundance of white flowers in South Camp meadow almost looks like snow.

The blue/purple flowers are coming out now, providing a beautiful accent to the white flowers.(slideshow)

This turnout was a vast expanse of ugly dirt last summer after the road was pushed in. But look at it now!

Loretta noticed this vine last year. It looks like it should grow something edible, but we haven't figured out just what it is yet. (slideshow)

Dividers for the sections of the cabinet beneath are loosely installed so Loretta can finish making up her mind about what she wants it to look like
