December 03 - December 05, 2004
Well, it's been 3 weeks since we've been here. This is the longest we've been away from the property since we bought it. But, since we got married and went on our honeymoon, this was the earliest we could get here.
It was
cold.
Can I say it any plainer? We got in on Friday at 10pm, and it was 34°. Saturday morning was about 30°. Sunday was warmer - it was 32° at 5:00am. The days 'warmed up' to about 58°.
We had anticipated the cold, and had purchased a wool comforter and two wool blankets. The wool blankets went on top of the air mattress, under the sleeping bag, and the wool comforter went over. Our 2 cotton comforters, and a Vellux blanket went over Wes's sleeping bag. We wore long underwear and sweatclothes to bed. The first night, Loretta wore her long johns and a turtleneck, but no sweatshirt, and she could feel the cold mattress. But the second night, with a fleece top over it all, it was better. The wool comforter was great! We think we may get more of these.
