November 12 - November 13, 2004
What an exciting weekend this was!
First of all, there had been more rain, and the road experienced quite a bit of erosion. (The road guy says "well, it IS a dirt road").
Secondly, due to the rain the mushrooms popped up all over - many, many different kinds.
One evening, we sat totally in the dark on our patio. Suddenly, the solar motion sensor lights went on in the meadow, and we dimly saw the hindquarters of an animal on the trail going up to South Rocks. The next day, Rob adjusted the lights so we could get a better view - but they worked!
On Friday, we heard bulldozers, so on Saturday, we drove around, trying to find out where they were. As we were driving on South Fork road, Rob suddenly exclaimed excitedly "Boars!" Sure enough, there were two VERY large wild Russian boars in a clearing in the brush near the river. The next day, we hikedfrom our property down to the river, through the most hideous brush, and exited just about where the clearing was. You could see the huge tunnels they had made in the brush.
