Powdered GoatsMilk

Goatsmilk is a wonderful addition to your soap, bath salts, bath teas, or milk baths. It softens and moisturizes skin (remember Cleopatra and her milk baths?). It's high fat content is especially conditioning.

Goatsmilk can be tricky to use in soap. However, when you use powdered goatsmilk, it is much easier to control. Here are some of the various ways it can be used:

  • Freeze Method: Mix according to the reconstitution rate indicated below, then freeze until it is slushy. (If it freezes solid, just warm it up a little and smash it with a fork until it's slushy.) Place the appropriate amount (according to your recipe) in a shallow non-aluminum container, and sprinkle the lye on top of it. Mix thoroughly until the lye has dissolved. This may take a while. It is now ready to mix with your warm (not hot) oils.
  • Paste Method: Mix the powdered goatsmilk with enough water to make a paste. Subtract that amount of water from the water used to mix with the lye. Mix the remaining water with the lye, then mix the lye/water with your oils. At trace, mix the paste in well.

  • Half water method: Mix lye/water using half of the required amount of water. Use the other half to mix with the powdered goatsmilk, at the recommended reconstitution ratio. When your soap has come to trace, mix in the reconstituted goatsmilk.

If you want a light colored soap, we recommend that you use a cold process method and do not insulate the soap, since heat will cause the sugars to turn the soap a very dark brown.

Premium Goatsmilk Powder

Our premium goatsmilk powder is whole goat's milk which has been spray-dried. It's food-grade, pure and has no preservatives. We do need to let you know, however, that the packaging does not meet FDA requirements for human consumption. So please, just use it in your soaps and toiletry products and do not drink it.

This goat's milk has a 26% butterfat content when dry, with a reconstitution ratio of 1 part powder to 8 parts water (that's 2 tablespoons of goatsmilk to 1 cup of water).

  • Premium:

    1-4 lbs     $7.25/lb
    5+ lbs      $7.00/lb

Economy Goatsmilk Powder

We are not carrying the Economy Goatmilk at this time. We were very unhappy with our last shipment and we are trying to find another supplier.
